I musicalized a series of very short videos I shot with a flip camera- from 13 seconds to about a minute and a half. I wrote for flute and guitar with minor textural overdubs. The flute is played by Sam Sadigursky. The videos are almost like photographs: they are mostly only one thing, or image, slightly moving, almost devoid of development or narrative. They are visual, and musical haiku.

This is tune has had a nice little life of its own. I wrote for the ensemble Coba, but ended up recording it with Cumbiamba, an on Cumbiamba’s CD “La Palma” it features my teenage years guitar hero Marc Ribot! Here’s a nice live version, and here are the lyrics:

Through most of 2009 I had a steady gig every Friday at Terraza, a nice cozy bar in Queens. This is a Colombian Atlantic Coast standard Bullerengue. With Franco Pinna on drums, and Andrés Rotmistrovsky on bass. I am out of frame through most of the video! but it was a performance I enjoyed. Sometime bet. December 2009 and Jan 2010
